Wound Care

The St. Joseph Health Wound Care Center uses a multidisciplinary approach involving wound care specialists and doctors in many related health care areas, including Infectious Diseases, Vascular Surgery, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Plastic Surgery and others, as needed.

The wound care center is an outpatient facility designed to treat wounds that haven’t healed or been properly treated. Our team of qualified wound care specialists includes a physician with advanced training in comprehensive wound management and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, as well as a nursing and clinical staff with advanced training in the care of acute and chronic wounds, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

The St. Joseph Health Wound Care Center team is educated and equipped to conduct a thorough diagnostic examination and provide a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan. Our wound care specialists will communicate your plan to your doctor and regularly provide progress reports. And to ensure a positive outcome, your wound care center team will continually evaluate and assess the healing process and adjust as needed.

St. Joseph Health Wound Care Center services follow national standards of care and wound care research protocols that include:

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
  • Enzymatic Debridement
  • Negative Pressure Therapy
  • Biologic Debridement
  • Sharp Debridement

Patients who benefit from our services include those with:

  • Diabetic lower extremity wounds
  • Non-healing surgical wounds
  • Crash injury or traumatic wounds
  • Abscess wounds that have not responded well to incision & drainage and antibiotics

Through well-planned Care Coordination your experience at the St. Joseph Health Wound Care Center will be smooth and effective. You will have your own physician wound care specialist and case manager. And we understand that each patient’s situation is specific and can be complex. That’s why we offer a complete team of wound care specialists to you and your care. This team may include: 

  • Primary physician
  • Nationally certified wound care coordinator
  • Nursing staff experienced in the care of complex wounds
  • Case management and social services
  • Plastic or general surgeon
  • Physical therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Podiatrist
