Dizzy and Balance Program

The CHI St. Joseph Health Dizzy and Balance Program is an innovative evidence-based program designed to address balance, dizziness, gait (walking pattern), and fall prevention to improve walking and daily function.

Our program specializes in providing vestibular therapy while also using traditional therapy techniques. We are committed to providing each patient with the education, treatment and skills to help improve balance and decrease dizziness.

We understand. And we know how to help.

We understand how challenging it is to function when you’re suffering from dizziness and balance issues. It can be draining and frustrating, to say the least. Having problems with dizziness and balance can limit driving, working, sports, walking, or your ability and desire to even get out of bed. Many people suffer from dizziness at some time. If you are experiencing any of these problems, we are here to help.

We have successfully treated the following symptoms:
  • Dizziness or vertigo (spinning sensation)
  • Imbalance or disequilibrium headaches
  • Falls
  • Decreased strength and endurance
  • Neck pain
We have successfully treated the following conditions:
  • Acoustic Neuroma
  • Ototoxicity, Labyrinthitis
  • Meniere’s Syndrome
  • BPPV, Otolith Dysfunction
  • Bilateral & Unilateral Vestibular Dysfunctions
  • Neurological Disorders (stroke, brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s)
  • Physical Deconditioning
  • Concussion
Our strategy, your relief.

We use research-based assessment and treatment methods for the greatest benefit to our patients. Our expert team uses the latest diagnostic tools, including computerized balance testing, fall risk assessments, and videonystagmography (a method used to examine involuntary eye movement) to measure each patient’s initial condition and progress.

Based on testing and evaluations, our physical therapists work closely with audiologists, ENT physicians, and other doctors to develop an effective and realistic individualized program for each person. We’re often able to use a specialized exercise approach to alleviate dizziness symptoms associated with the inner ear and improve balance strategies to prevent falls.
